This Privacy Policy explains how Orator ("Orator," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and application (the "Service"). Orator is an AI communication coach: you practice speaking and interviewing, and we give you feedback on how you come across. Because that involves your camera, microphone, and speech, we take your privacy seriously.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password (passwords are handled and stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see them in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account.
Practice session data
When you run a practice session, we process and store the content you create, which may include:
- Audio you record and the resulting transcripts of what you said;
- Delivery metrics such as speaking pace, filler words, confidence, engagement, and composure scores;
- Session contextyou provide (for example the role or scenario you're preparing for) and any titles or notes; and
- AI-generated feedback produced from the above.
Camera & expression analysis
To measure things like eye contact and expression, Orator analyzes your webcam feed directly in your browser. This analysis produces numeric metrics only. We do not upload, record, or store your webcam video, and your camera stream is not sent to our servers.
Usage & technical data
Like most websites, we collect basic analytics and technical information — such as pages viewed, approximate performance data, device and browser type, and general usage patterns — to keep the Service reliable and improve it.
How we use your information
- To provide the Service, including generating your feedback and progress;
- To maintain your account and save your session history;
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service;
- To respond to your messages and support requests; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your practice recordings or transcripts to advertise to you.
Service providers we share data with
We rely on a small set of trusted third-party providers to run Orator. They process data only as needed to provide their service to us, and only for the purposes described in this policy. These include providers for:
- Authentication and database hosting — to manage your account and securely store your session data.
- Speech-to-text processing — to convert your session audio into a transcript.
- AI processing — to generate your coaching feedback from your transcript and delivery metrics.
- Hosting and analytics — to run the Service reliably and understand aggregate usage.
The expression analysis that measures things like eye contact runs locally in your browser and is not sent to these providers.
Data retention
We keep your account and session data for as long as your account is active so you can review your history and track progress. You can delete individual sessions at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your profile in the app, delete sessions directly, and contact usto request access or deletion of your data. You can also disable your camera or microphone in your browser at any time — some features simply won't work without them.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand aggregate usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the Service works.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit who can access it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated through the Service.
